PSA: Pidyon Peter Chamor in RBS A on Thursday

This Thursday, Rosh Chodesh Tammuz, there will be a pidyon peter chamor ceremony in Park Ayalon of RBS A. This is a relatively rare performance of a mitzva, so you might want to make sure you go to see it.

and then there is this image..

the phrasing "you're invited to my redemption" is kind of funny.. but go and enjoy the experience!

  1. Other than the spectacle, what's the point of watching? Only the owner, and possibly the Kohen, are actually performing a Mitzvah.

  2. Gee, You obviously are never gonna be invited to any wedding, bar mitzvah or bris. What's the point of watching?

    1. Participating in a wedding is in itself a Mitzvah. And I don't show up to any unless I was invited, in which case it has nothing to do with performing a Mitzvah and everything to do with being socially gracious.

In this case, any random person is being invited to stare, I mean watch, and the people actually involved don't care about any particular stranger being there or not.

  3. mitzva or no mitzva to watch, it is an unusual event and an unusual ceremony, and you hardly ever, if at all, get to see such a thing. just out of curiosity it is a draw.

Some yekke he claims to be - he doesn't manage to spell Ayalon correctly!
